Great Wood

Great Wood is set in Ramscombe, near Over Stowey, on the eastern side of the Quantock Hills.

The site is owned by the Scripture Union and leased to SORLS during the spring, summer and autumn terms.

Set in its own 4 acres, the centre has en-suite chalets for up to 60 students and 12 staff, with separate teaching and dining facilities.  The centre also has an outdoor swimming pool and campfire area.  A stream borders one side of the site and is the perfect spot for several wet activities!  There is easy access to the surrounding countryside and a short minibus drive provides access to all the Kilve Court facilities.

Activity sessions last for 1hr 15 mins and most of the activities can accommodate a maximum of 12 students during a session.

Some of the activities may take two sessions to complete.  Some are also able to accommodate more than 12 individuals at a time, often being used as a ‘whole group’ activity.

Groups staying at Great Wood for a whole week may choose to visit Kilve Court for a day to participate in the activities available there.
